Australians to look out for at the WSOP-APAC: Jackie Glazier the Leading Lady

Posted at 10:35 2013-04-02 by Matthew Pitt

The inaugural World Series of Poker Asia Pacific is just around the corner and PokerNetwork believes that Australian poker players will shine on home soil. In the run up to WSOP-APAC we will be showcasing a number of players who we think will be shining jewels at the Crown poker Room.

Jackie Glazier is one of the best poker players Australia has to offer and one who will be going all out to banish the demons of the 2012 World Series of Poker. Cast your mind back to June when Glazier came agonisingly close to winning her first WSOP bracelet when she finished second in Event #41. Although that result bagged Glazier an impressive $458,996 – and may have been a major factor in her securing an IveyPoker contract – missing out on some of poker’s most sought after jewellery will have been painful.

During that fateful heads-up match, Glazier ran extremely poorly against the eventual champion Greg Ostrander. One key hand saw Ostrander call a raise with {6-Spades}{2-Spades} and fop trips then the final hand saw Glazier’s turned two pair smashed by her opponent’s turned straight.

At the time Glazier said, “The cards just fell the way they fell and there wasn't a lot I could do about it. To be perfectly honest I would consider myself the better player, I don't feel like I played bad today...it's unfortunate but as a poker player that happens to everyone and you just have to deal with it.”

Glazier has a fantastic record in Melbourne-based events including a win in a $1,000 buy-in Six max event (she won $37,500), a third place finish in a $5,000 high Stakes event for $26,350, a runner-up finish in the 2012 Joe Hachem Deepstack for $35,000 and, of course, an outright win in the 2012 Melbourne Poker Championship for $95,000.

Watch out for Glazier at the WSOP-APAC, we expect great things from Australia's leading poker lady!
