Deep Runs For Aussies In First SCOOP Events

Posted at 10:12 2012-05-09 by Matthew Pitt

The PokerStars 2012 Spring Championship Of Online Poker is under way with two of its 40 events completed. Event #1 was the No Limit Hold'em Six-max whilst Event #2 was full ring No Limit Hold'em. Both events featured three buy-in levels, Low, Medium and High, which commanded a buy-in of $27, $215 and $2,100 respectively.

Australian players had deep runs in the first two events, namely B3stpwnll who finished 27th from a massive field of 25,520 entrants in Event #1's Low buy-in tournament, netting himself $1,435.50. Also making the top 50 in that same event was bong_lips (37th) who picked up $1,142.02.

There was more Australian success in the Medium buy-in of Event #1 where LuckBox26 reached the final table before busting out in seventh place out of a field of 5,423 for a cool $11,171.38. According to PocketFives.com LuckBox26 is currently ranked 87th in Australia for online poker tournaments but after this fantastic result we can expect him to soar up the leaderboard.

We also had players in the $2,100 High buy-in tournament but none of them could outlast James “BizBills” Bills who fell just short of a final table appearance, finishing in 14th place for a $14,112.000 pay day. This latest score means Bills is now closing in on $800,000 winnings on PokerStars alone.

More congratulations need to be given to Nty9Problems who reached the final table of the Low Event #2, busting in 8th out of a field of 28,876 players. Also making deep runs in that event were ismoketomuch (13th), winga699 (45th) and cordell jnr (65th).

DELL BOY 101 was the highest placed Aussie in Event #2 Medium, finishing 13th from 8,240 to help himself to a $6,839.20 payout. He was kept company by 12ziz12 (32nd) in the latter stages of the tournament.

Last but certainly not least is the highest placed player in the $2,100 buy-in event, bluesky30. He finished in 67th place from a star-studded field of 966 to win $5,409.60.

This is a superb start by Australian players and we will certainly be keeping an eye on all the other events to see if any of our boys and girls can go the distance and bring home a SCOOP title.
