Phil Hellmuth Wins 12th WSOP Bracelet

He claims to be the very best poker player in the world and honestly believes that if luck was not involved in the game then he would win every poker tournament he entered. Some say he is delusional, some love him, others hate on him but say what you will about the man because just minutes ago Phil Hellmuth won his 12th World Series of Poker bracelet.

Until today all of Hellmuth's bracelets were won in Hold'em tournaments but now he has a non-Hold'em one in his collection after he took down the $2,500 Seven Card Razz event. Although he won $182,793 in prize money Hellmuth it will be the bracelet that Hellmuth will be delighted about as it has eluded him since he won his 11th back in 2007.

Hellmuth, the self-proclaimed “Poker Brat,” had to overcome a talented final table that was the home to the likes of Barry Greenstein, Scott Fischman and Brandon Cantu but overcome it he did as he swept them all aside and get his hands – or should that be wrist – on that elusive 12th bracelet.

Ironically Hellmuth's heads-up opponent, Don Zewin, was on the final table of of Hellmuth's first-ever bracelet win back in 1989. That year Hellmuth won the $10,000 Main Event whilst Zewin busted in third place so it was quite fitting the pair met again some 23 years later as Hellmuth extended his lead in the “bracelet race” where Hellmuth holds two more pieces of poker jewellery than living poker legends Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan and boy will we hear about it over the next few weeks and months!

Congratulations to Hellmuth on his 12th bracelet.
