PokerStars.net ANZPT Perth Main Event Day 3: Jon Curtis Leads As Final Table Set

Posted at 10:00 2012-05-06 by Matthew Pitt

Forty players started the day with high hopes of becoming the player who is eventually crowned the PokerStars ANZPT Perth Main Event champion but those hopes were dashed for 31 of them; 31 players who were eliminated during the six levels of play at the Burswood Casino.

For the nine who will retake their seats this afternoon the dream is certainly alive but whoever takes home the coveted trophy and the not-so-small matter of the $78,275 first place prize, will have to overtake the current chip leader Jon Curtis.

Local player Curtis is a 43-year old who has been playing poker for eight years, making him the most experienced player at the final table in terms of time at the felt. The former real estate expert is the only player to have more than one million chips and he will be hoping that this helps his quest to become the ANZPT Perth Champion by the time the dust settles again later today.

Although Curtis is the man to catch we have our eyes on John Shin and Anthony Aston who both look like they can certainly work their way around a poker table. We have been glued to the updates on the PokerStars Blog and these two players have been in the thick of it from the word go! It should be a fantastic final to say they least.

Each of the nine players have now locked up at least $6,510 for their efforts over the past week but one man will walk away with $78,275 in their pocket. Who will that be? Tune in tomorrow to find out!
