September has almost come to an end and that not only means there are less than three months until Christmas, but also that the 2012 Star Poker Summer Series is just around the corner. This year's series will kick off on Nov. 28 and run all the way through until Dec. 09 and during that time there will be 10 championship events taking place, including the eagerly anticipated $5,000 Main Event.
Kicking off proceedings is the $330 No LimitHold'em event that will see players start with 10,000 chips and play to a 40-minute clock. This particular event will be played to the repechage format, meaning players who bust out can re-enter on the next available starting flight.
Other highlights of the schedule include a No Limit Hold'em Semi Shootout ($550), a teams event, a six-handed tournament, a turbo tournament, the aforementioned Main Event and an exclusive $10,500 High Roller event.
Last year's Main Event attracted 164 players, each of whom enjoyed a generous overlay thanks to the $1,000,000 guarantee not being met. It was Andy Lee who took down the 2011 Main Event at The Star casino, his prize was a bankroll-boosting $270,000 that he was awarded for defeating Tom Rafferty heads-up. The 2012 edition of this fantastic tournament will not sport a guarantee but a huge prize pool is still expected to be generated; we do not have long to wait to discover its size.
