DefaultWhat's your ruling in this spot?

Villan: Bets 1500 into 5k
Hero: Playing with chips and working out a raise
Villan: Before Hero acts "you dont intimidate me...I'll call any raise you put out there".

Is villan bound to he's statement? Please provide a rationale.

I dont think so as the action wasnt on him

I would still laugh at him and remind myself of how awesome I am

Along the lines of what Tony said plus it's more table banter than anything - he should possibly get a warning as technically saying things like that is against the rules - but meh whatever

I would say something along the lines of "you know verbal declarations are binding right?" and then jam

Only banter - you couldn't bind the Villain to a call in that situation, given the fact that the Hero has yet to act. Even if it was his turn to act, I would suspect that the dealer or floor person would seek clarification into his action.

verbal declarations out of turn are not generally binding .. although TDA rules state they "may be binding"

Sounds like me two days ago playing live, guy was firing at totally rainbow board, i held pocket kings and as he's counting out to fire his final river i say "I'm not folding.." puts hit chips back and checks lol

Had top pair with pocked kings was scared he hit some funky low pocket trips and was trying to limit my pot commitment, is this type of shit legal at cash tables and higher stakes tourns? was only a 10$ sng so was just a bit of live fun

I can't wait 'til Dipper posts the true answer. He rules.

Table banter imo

No binding action here he's stating an intention trying to influence his opponent without making a specific declaration imo if that makes sense

If i'm TD I warn villain that what he said is very close to being considered a call and if he does it again he'll be penalised, but i'm not holding him to a call if i'm TD here. If hero had acted of course it'd be a call.

Technically its binding by the rules. If Hero asked for a ruling, then I'm pretty sure Villain will be made to call any bet Hero makes.

It's like Villain is betting out of turn.

Have certainly heard stories of places where villain was held to this, but it probably just depends on house rules (and if villain is a reg of course).
