ANZAC Cup 2012 At The Crown Casino

Posted at 12:12 2012-04-24 by Barry Gallagher

ANZAC Day is a solemn day in Australia and New Zealand as we remember those who fought for the freedom that we enjoy today. Part of the tradition will play out in pubs and clubs all over Australia as people gamble on games of Two-up replicating the soldiers who used the game as an escape as they fought in the trenches during World War 1.

Two-up won’t be the only form of gambling taking place to commemorate the event as the poker community will mark the occasion by making their way to the Crown Casino in Melbourne to play in the ANZAC Cup. The event which takes place on the eve of the big day to ensure the players won’t have to forgo the opportunity to catch the blockbuster Collingwood v Essendon clash in the MCG on the 25th itself.

The event is an affordable $250 buy-in with a generous 20k starting stack. $210 will go to the prizepool and $20 of the rake will be donated to the charity Legacy Australia. Legacy works to care for the dependents of soldiers killed or incapacitated during their service by providing financial assistance as well as companionship to those left behind. A very honourable cause we are sure you will agree. Are you playing in the ANZAC Cup please leave your comments on the event below as we at PokerNetwork would love to hear from you!
