Biggest Ever Macau Poker Cup Planned for PokerStars Live At The City Of Dreams

Last week PokerNetwork brought you the news that PokerStars is to launch a new live poker room in the City Of Dream Casino. Now we are bringing you information of the inaugural poker event that will be taking place in that new room.

Yesterday “PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams” revealed the schedule of the next Macau Poker Cup (MPC). Running April 19-28, 2013 the 18th instalment of the MPC looks set to be bigger and better than ever before, if only because the HKD$11,000 Red Dragon Main Event will feature a huge HKD$5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Danny McDonagh, the Director of Live operations in the Asia-Pacific for PokerStars, said, “It’s become a tradition of sorts for PokerStars LIVE Macay to open with the Macau Poker Cup. There’s been an incredible buzz since we announced the move to City of Dreams, Macau and we are doing everything possible to ensure our new home begins with a new record.”

In February 2012, the ever-popular Red Dragon tournament broke the attendance record for an Asian poker tournament when 635 players bought into it. That particular event was won by Nicky Tao Jin who won HKD$1,192,500 for his victory, and of course had his name written into poker’s history books.

The latest edition of the MPC will run across 10-days and will feature nine Official Asia Player of the Year (APOY) events. The $11,000 Red Dragon will be the highlight of the festival, although the $20,000 two-day event that boasts a HKD$1,000,000 prize pool is sure to garner plenty of attention too.
