William Hill Pulls Out Of Australian Market

Posted at 23:44 2012-05-24 by Matthew Pitt

Last month we brought you the news that William Hill were no longer accepting new customers from Australia though we believed they would continue to allow current Australian customers to continue to play on their online poker site for the foreseeable future; though that now appears not to be the case.

A TwoPlusTwo member by the name of MichaelScarn started a thread entitled "William Hill pulling out of Australian market" where he informed his fellow members that he had attempted to log into his William Hill poker account and received a pop-up message that stated he would no longer be able to play on the site any more due to "changes in service." The date given for this is today, May 24.

PokerNetwork reached out to both William Hill customer support and their media relations departments but at time of writing we are still awaiting a reply from either department.

The sudden move seems a strange one to make especially as yesterday we receive an email from the iGaming Post that hinted at Australia allowing online poker and sportsbooks. The article claims some gaming sites could run trials of both sportsbook and online poker within a year.

As always PokerNetwork will bring you any details and information we find on the matter as and when we receive it.
