Action has been rather slow of late in the Durrrr challenge with Durrrr still holding a US$726,000 lead over rival Patrik Antonius after just over 20,000 hands, as per the last update. The combatants haven’t come together in the challenge since June, but there has been an exciting development off the virtual felt.
MatchroomSport, the UK’s premier producer of televised poker, announced the latest promotion in conjunction with Tom “Durrrr” Dwan recently.
Durrrr was pleased to announce the new nosebleed stakes cash game challenge. The difference between this and the other challenge is that Durrrr will be taking his game offline and playing opponents head to head over the live felt in London.
The buy-in for the new challenge will be US$500,000 per player with $500/$1,000 blinds. The special requirement is that neither player can leave the game until they have busted their stack or played 500 hands. Challengers will be able to pick between No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha.
The made for TV challenge will take place in November in London and some of the world’s best are expected to get in on the action with Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, Phil Ivey and PokerNews’ own Tony G rumoured to be among the big names looking to get a slice of Durrrr in London.
“I am looking forward to sitting down and playing some of the world’s best players live in London. There looks to be lots of interest in people wanting to play me, but they never seem to appear online. It will be interesting to see the response and just who is willing to get it on,” said Dwan.
