Karamalikis Still Number One, But Australia Drop to Eighth in the Worldwide Rankings

The current top 10 ranked online poker tournaments in Australia remain relatively unchanged with Jonathan “xMONSTERxDONGx” Karamalikis still out in front, but the country’s points tally had dropped somewhat and Australia is now ranked eighth in the world.

Both Karamalikis’ and Australia’s points tally increased earlier this week when Karamalikis won the $109 Turbo on PokerStars for $6,318. The popular pro had a near miss in the $109 1R1A on the same day, finishing second $9,705.

Matt “mjw006” Wakeman is the current number two, though he is quite some distance behind the leader. Wakeman’s charge up the rankings was helped by him finishing third in last weekend’s Super Sized Sunday on Full Tilt Poker that bagged him $24,120, a sixth place finish in The Big $55 on PokerStars and a runner-up finish in the $12,500 Gtd Speed on PartyPoker.

Tom “tollgate” Grigg’s bankroll and points total were boosted last Sunday when he took down the $350,000 guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker. The $71,320 Grigg won was one of the largest cashes of his career and hopefully it is the catalyst for him to climb up the standings and start challenging for the top spot once again.

Rounding out the top 10 are Michael “WaGe N WaRz” Federsen, Nurlan “Nur1ck” Boobekov, Alex “krasark” Givotovsky, Andrew “FUZZBUNGLE” Hinrichsen, Matt “brownie682” Brown, James “BizBills” Bills and Stevan “random.chu” Chew.
