The 2010 Victorian Poker Championships has come to a close as PokerNetworker Michael “ITSOVER9000” Egan has been crowned champion of the $2,700 Main Event!

On Saturday, 269 players formed one of the most highly skilled and talented fields the Crown Poker Room has seen this year. Old-school veterans, online phenoms, tournament junkies and everyday amateurs from around the country sat down to emulate the feats of previous champions Albert Amato, Jay Kinkade, Graeme Putt and Mike Ivin.

With play starting to wrap up on the live felt at the Victorian Poker Championships at Crown Casino in Melbourne, the action was heating up on the virtual felt as the young-gun Internet players woke up nice and early to grind out the majors.

Ben ‘delaney_kid’ Delaney was among those, and he managed a nice score, finishing 2nd in the $150,000 Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker for $37,495 but it would not be the biggest score of the day.

After a little over ten levels of intense tournament poker, the 2010 Victorian Poker Championships Main Event has reached the final table with ten deserving players preparing themselves for a potentially life-changing day.

Yesterday saw 97 players return to the Crown Poker Room to battle with Martin Comer leading the charge along with fellow old-school tournament veterans such as David Gorr and Antonis Kambouroglou.

After two intense days of shootout format poker, the South Australian team have emerged victorious in the 2010 Victorian Poker Championships State of Origin Event.

Seven teams were represented in the third instalment of the State of Origin after the late withdrawal of The Territories side. However their loss was all soon forgotten as the not-so-friendly banter and occasionally unpleasant egos were unleashed in a titanic State versus State and Mate versus Mate battle.

As the ANZPT Gold Coast final table was about to kick off, Brendon ‘Brendooor’ Rubie was stealing the limelight by capturing an elusive FTOPS title!

Brendon Rubie is without doubt one of the best youngsters in the country on both the virtual and live felt. Looking at his live record, it is hard to go past his two victories; one in 2008 in an APPT Sydney preliminary event, and the other which was just a handful of months ago with the Melbourne Poker Championships Main Event title.

All eyes were on the Gold Coast today as an exciting PokerStars.net ANZPT event drew to a conclusion. The ANZPT Gold Coast started out with 287 entrants, and just nine remained at the start of today’s play. The chip leader was Nauv Kashyap but the final table included a wealth of talent and many PokerNetworkers including Liam O’Rourke, Joel Dodds, Dominic Coombe, Ricky Kroesen, Michael Spilkin and Aaron Benton.
