2009 Aussie Millions Kicks Off This Week!

The 2009 Aussie Millions unofficially kicked off today with the $550 Opening Event Semi-Satellite drawing another huge field to the Crown Casino in Melbourne. The excitement and the anticipation is building, as over the next few weeks, poker players from far and wide start to roll into town to participate in the largest poker tournament in the southern hemisphere!

Christmas is a time for giving, if you believe the old adage.  However it seems that most Australian tournament players were not in a particularly sharing mood this festive season.  With some fantastic scores just in time for Christmas, December was yet another good month to be a young, online multi-table tournament player from Adelaide.   At the top of the Christmas list was young Adelaide based internet sensation James “Andy McLEOD” Obst who capped a monster month worth no less then US$162,225.

December was a month highlighted by the Grand Final of the 2008 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Sydney with all of Australia’s finest taking on the international invasion to try and replicate the success of Grant Levy by capturing the title and the one million dollar first place prize. The online scene was expectedly quiet during the APPT but finished with a flurry as many of the online young guns enjoyed some Christmas success.

Day 6 of the 2008 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final saw the final nine combatants return to the feature table of the Star City Casino poker room to duke it out for the coveted title and cool one million dollar first place prize. Antonio Fazzolari held a healthy chip lead entering the day, but the experience and second biggest chip stack of Jason Gray saw him as the man to beat.

2008 APPT Sydney Day 4: We're In The Money!

For the first time in the 2008 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final we had all of our remaining 219 player in the Star City Casino poker room at the same time for Day 2 of play. The goal was to reach the money stage of the tournament, which seemed a long way off at the start of the day, however the action was fast and furious early on with players falling at a rapid rate.
