Hey guys :) The weather has been really ordinary here the last few days, which kinda sucks since we're well into summer and it's still cloudy, rainy and cold. We spent most of the weekend in as a result, and ended up watching a few movies (SALT and Killers, both of which were fucking awful), playing chess and planning our summer holiday which kicks off this coming weekend. We're headed over to Western Australia for the Xmas break, having Xmas lunch with my dad and his extended family, having a Boxing Day birthday BBQ for Mell with some friends at the beach, then heading down to the Dunsborough/Margaret River wine region for ten days of chilling out with a few of our mates. Really looking forward to it!
We both ended up playing a bit of poker on Sunday. I had a good session, with five final tables (Stars 5r25a and 16.50/30k turbo, FTP 9.5k, Party 5k and UB 5k) where I was chip lead or close to it in the lot, but ran a bit average from there and only made 3k for the day with one win (5r25a, obv!) when it could've easily been a 10k+ day. Unfortunately I handed much of that back today with what was pretty much a complete brick - I went 5/56 in cashes and didn't cash in anything $55+, and FT bubbled the Party 5k and Stars 27.50 big antes. Such is Monday, congrats to Joel Dodds for closing out the Party major for 55k and commiserations to Watto and Gautam who both FT bubbled majors (Warmup and UB). Bazooka is looking pretty good in miniFTOPS 20r as well atm.
Had a little fun this week as well after some clown I slowrolled decided to start a thread on Pocketfives about me, always good to get a little notoriety. If you don't know I am a huge fan of the slowroll. The standard AA preflop one is okay, but I really like the ones where some fish chases the flush when you have a set, then the flush hits but you fill up, god I love timing down on those. I think the main reason I like it so much is for all the beats you have to cop, it's very tilt-relieving as every second ticks by while you timebank, knowing you're about to transfer those feelings of annoyance to some hapless loser and (most likely) scrape in a huge pot.
Got another chance to slowroll HU in closing out the Stars 5r25a. I had a 2:1 chip deficit when we got HU and the guy offered to chop, but I still had 35bb and he was so much of an aggrotard I couldn't do it to myself. He obviously gets frustrated with me playing disciplined poker so starts doing erratic shit like shoving huge stacks preflop or open shoving flops etc so I just picked my spots and managed to find a pretty good one, I think....
