I'm not really sure that I can adequately explain why my audition was really tough but I'll give it a shot. Obviously it is a similar process to all the other ones I've done before, just a lot more full on. The (five) reviewers were really intense, like they grill the fuck out of you about the character, the script, what resonates with you...then you deliver your part and they grill that really hard too (you have to repeat bits of it over and over and over in front of a running camera, and they pretty much only give you criticism)...then after that they sit you down and start interviewing you, which is an intense campaign to figure out everything about your personality and break it down. I'm gunna take a wild guess that the reason they do this is because the most interesting stuff to look at on the camera is when someone has some kind of baggage or shit that they can draw on for a part, and they want to see 1) if you have that, and 2) whether you can draw it out.
So I'm gunna guess that compared to the average 20-something that auditions for these things that I have a fair bit of a story to tell, but yeah I'd be lying if I said the whole process didn't take a lot out of me and the first thing I wanted to do was start drinking when I got home lol. So yeah I brought home a bottle of Jameson and a couple DVDs, Good Will Hunting obviously, and The Machinist and did my best to unwind in my beanbag.. Fuck it is sick how much weight Christian Bale lost for that role, apparently he lost 28 kilos in four months eating an apple and a cup of coffee a day to get to his film weight of 54kg...
As to whether or not I think I will get a place, idk I'm probably pretty confident if only for the fact I think I showed that I have a fair bit of stuff they can work with. Anyway I find out late next week so I'll keep you posted.
Poker was good (+2.5k) again today, FT'ed the FTP 18k early antes and the Stars 109/50k, which was easily the most difficult FT I've ever played in terms of lineups - gboro, mig, chronic420, smokmybandit, threatnasty and aaralynn. I was actually 1/2 chips with gboro with 14-15 left, but then he got moved to my table and just tore it apart (read: I didn't adjust well, not that anyone else did either), so by the time I was at the FT I was in the second half of the pack. Anyway gboro pretty much killed all action and had close to 100bb when everyone else was under 30bb, I got AT in against his KQ for a 45bb stack with 7 left which would've put me in clear second but didn't hold. Didn't feel like I played the endgame in that one very well but whatever, the guy is a crusher, scratch it up to experience I guess.
