level +1

Google research would show...

APL - Australian Poker League
NPL - National Poker League
OPT - Oz Poker Tour
888PL -
Sydney Poker Tour
Poker HQ
NPPL - National Pub Poker League
AHP - Aussie Holdem Poker
AMP - Australian Masters Poker
Platinum Poker
Marconi Palace
Poker Challenge
Poker Est
EPT - Exclusive Poker Tour
APPL - Aust Pro Poker League
APS - Australian Poker Satellites
Elite Poker Australia
OTE - On Tilt Poker
Pure Bred Poker
PH - Poker Headquarters
Queen 6 Poker
QPE - Queensland Poker Events
Pac Poker
WAPL - West Australian Poker League

+++ many many more not including casinos and home games...

I would guess much more than 2000 events per week. I would say closer to 4000 with many venues hosting more than 1 game a night and more than 1 night a week

PokerElite, please don't listen to the haters.

I too am trying to get involved in a new venture, and am aware exactly how much work goes into getting started.

My plan is to create a world wide web page, where you can link with friends from around the World to keep in touch. Users will be encouraged to share pictures, catch up with old friends, and offer witty one line status updates.

I'm planning on calling it MyBook, or possibly FaceSpace - input is greatly appreciated on either name.

Best of luck to us both !!

I've got an even better idea than Luckyshades.
Poker on the internet! Now that many homes have fast internet,
a special server (think of it like a web server, but instead of
serving up web pages it deals cards) deals cards to everyone with
a client program installed on their home PCs.

You could even combine it with E-commerce and people could use their
Visa cards or bank deposits or some such technique to use real money
in these games that could be played from the convenience of home.

Does anyone out there know if something like this has been tried before?

WOW WOW WOW, Lucky Shades and Dr Straight you 2 guys might have something here. I really like your ideas, but you know what I am thinking is you both should do.... I think if you combine your ideas you can have a huge network where friends of friends of friends can all get together and play poker. You can set up a way where people can buy play money chips with real money, so the more money you spend the more play money chips you get. They can pay by Creditcard, paypal etc etc. This way you can feel like a Pro by gambling with millions of play $$ with only having to spend a few hundred bucks!!

I like myface preferably.

Imagine going up to a girl and saying "oh are you on myface?" Or you can go to your mates "she is on myface"
