Now Forming ... Australian Poker Tour

Hello and thanks for viewing our first post here on the forum at PokerNetwork.com. I'm here to announce, and start an interest group for, the Australian Poker Tour (sponsored by Poker Elite).

My name is Jeremiah, and I am the Founder and President of the tour. I have come to Australia from the USA, where I managed for the largest bar poker tour in the States. I also owned a company that manufactured custom poker and blackjack tables. So I said all that to say I have extensive experience in the industry, and eagerly await for it to really take off here in Australia! I have heard many good things about the state of the industry here, and am very excited and challenged to be a part of it!

The Australian Poker Tour will commence in Melbourne. I live here and it seems to be a practical place to jumpstart the tour. Over the coming few weeks, I will be launching websites to keep all interested players up to speed on the tour, rules, locations, standings, etc. Watch for my company website, www.pokerelite.com.au to launch any day now, and subsequent sites as the need exists. We are interested in, and plan to, expand to Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth ... with other locations possible as well.

The tour will be COMPLETELY FREE TO PLAY. You heard right, it won't cost you a single cent. The bars/venues that choose to participate will host a weekly, fortnightly, or twice-a-week game. It will cost the player nothing to register, play or participate in any way. They will be playing for cash and prizes all sponsored by the venue, as well as points that will be awarded to the top three finishers of each game. Points will accrue over the course of the year ... with monthly and annual tournaments for the top winners. Eventually (depending on the pace in which the tournament grows in size) players will be competing for a seat in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada (this will be an independently-purchased seat, we are in no way sponsored by or affiliated with the WSOP). So you get all this, and in return we ask only one thing ... support the venues that host the games. They are doing this as a way to generate business, and since it costs they players nothing to play, we only ask that you take care of your bar and purchase food and drinks. Again, it's not required, but if we can't support our venues then they won't be able to keep us playing. Make sense? Good!

So here's the deal, we are looking for players and venues right now. We have a couple good leads for venues in different parts of the City, but we need more. So if you know of some bars, restaurants, hotels, clubs or other venues that might be interested in hosting a poker night, please contact me for further details. And if you are just wanting to play some poker, then fantastic! Contact me for details on our first launch parties, and start spreading the word. Absolutely free to play guys ... yes in a way, it's a live free roll. For those of you who aren't out to cause havoc, the idea is very researched, and it's currently the largest independent poker tour in America.
