Racing – Ranvet Stakes & Coolmore Classic

IASbet.com expert racing analyst, Gerard Twomey previews the quality meeting at Rosehill featuring the Ranvet Stakes and Coolmore Classic.

Ranvet Stakes – Race 5

Interesting Ranvet with Maluckyday and Descarado going into this second up with their Grand Final being the BMW in a fortnight’s time. Wouldn’t surprise to see either of the Group One winning mares Sacred Choice or Keep The Peace cause an upset with both having a fitness edge over their rivals this campaign. Expect Descarado to lead from Zavite and Sacred Choice with Jim Cassidy on Maluckyday taking the trail and hoping to find the line strongly and finish over the top of them.

Coolmore Classic – Race 7

A typical open Coolmore with top weight Melito facing a huge task at the weights. Superstar Sunline, who won this race twice with 60kg, is the only mare with more than 56kg to win this race since 1988. Palacio de Cristal ran third in this last year, but her habit of missing the start and racing form the rear of the field means she relies heavily on luck and tempo. Graceful Anna, has the positive jockey change of D. Oliver, is well in the mix, while No Evidence Needed always peaks third up and with her form around Response last Spring, she represents great value at the odds. Aloha is the deserved favourite having won her last four, she strips fitter and with Glen Boss aboard, should get the run of the race. Three year olds have won 5 of the last 8 editions, and More Strawberries can give a great sight with blinkers on following off an indifferent run last start. Jersey Lily and Turnstiles both look to be mares on the way up and are genuine chances in a wide open race.
