PokerNews and PokerNetwork are looking to expand the resources for our live reporting team. For many years PokerNews has led the world in live reporting in the poker industry, and with the expansion of PokerNetwork to include its own live reporting capabilities, we are looking to build up our Australian-based team starting with the PokerNews Cup at Crown Casino in October.
We are looking for a wide range of different resources including tournament reporters, bloggers, writers and presenters. Opportunities to travel, both in Australia and overseas, may be possible for the right candidates.
Tournament Reporters
As a tournament reporter you are required to spend long days on your feet, but the rewards are incredible as you are right in the middle of the action on the tournament floor. You are required to observe and document the action so that the bloggers can blog it to the live website. You get the opportunity to watch the world’s best poker players up close!
Requirements:
- An advanced understanding of No Limit Texas Holdem in a live environment in order to observe and document the actions of key poker hands and players during a tournament. This includes being able to pick up the action in the middle of a hand.
- Understanding of the various positions on the poker table and the actions that can occur
- Ability to accurately estimate the chip counts for players
- Keen observational skills and the ability to accurately document the action
- Neat handwriting
- Good communication skills to speak with players, officials and bloggers
- Physically fit
- Available to work long hours, often into the early hours of the morning
- Enthusiasm and a passion for poker
- Understanding of Mixed Games (Omaha, HORSE, etc) is a bonus
- Knowledge of local Melbourne and Australian players is a bonus
We require several tournament reporters for the upcoming PokerNews Cup. Bloggers/Writers
Bloggers are required to take the notes from the reporters and write them up into a blog on the computer for live updating to the PokerNews/PokerNetwork website. Bloggers need the ability to write clearly, quickly, accurately and in a manner which is interesting for the visitors to the site. Spelling, punctuation and grammatical skills are a must. A writing background is advantageous but a deep understanding of poker is essential.
You will also be required to have good communication and people management skills as you will work closely with the reporters to ensure that the live reporting product meets the high standards expected by PokerNews/PokerNetwork.
PokerNetwork is always on the lookout for new writers to work for our website. There is a lot of scope with articles as PokerNetwork features poker news from Australia and worldwide, as well as promotional, editorial and creative pieces. Presenters
Presenters are required to conduct video interviews with poker players, officials and personalities to be broadcast on the PokerNetwork website. An understanding of poker is an advantage, but a bright & friendly personality on camera is of utmost importance. Must be well presented and be able to communicate clearly.
