Hi guys I am playing a number of events at Aussie Mills and have some pieces to sell @ 15% markup. I can't believe it's been twelve months since I started the last thread, but it is and so it's time to reflect on what you've done poker-wise this year and get yourself motivated for 2011. If you're looking for what you wrote last year on this topic - http://www.pokernetwork.com/forums/m...ls-thread.html I'll kick it off... 2010 results/reflections All up I look like playing just shy of 10k MTTs for the year. After enjoying a nice heater with six straight winning months to kick the year off, I went on a downswing/breakeven patch that took from July through to October to work its way out, then had my best month ever in November. I know there were spots I could've played better through that nasty patch, but variance was responsible for the bulk of it, and in that sense I got humbled by the realisation of how little I really knew about that aspect of the game. My MTT goals were to make top 20 TLB and get my first five figure score. I scraped inside the top 10 for a little while, managed to get a bunch of five figure scores and final table a major since I moved up in stakes, so in that sense I am relatively happy with my results for the year to date. I still have a ton of areas I need to improve, but I definitely think the risk2Dupside of today would crush the guy playing at the start of the year, and comfortably beat the guy playing six months ago. I had planned to get better at sixmax cash but really didn't do much apart from a mid-year burst of hands which got me settled at 100nl. Definitely need to do more work here. My other goal was to help out up and coming players more; while I spent some time coaching small/micro stakes MTTers I focused a lot more on seeking help from better players and views from people with different playing styles/ideas on the game - guys like dave798111, delaney, dinhjo, republican, mathawker and berky all deserve mentions in that respect. All of those guys (and others) have helped me think a lot more about how to beat the game for a higher clip and hopefully put me in good stead for an even better 2011. 2011 goals More balance - The thing I really learnt from my breakeven stretch is that unless I want to be miserable and jaded both off and on the tables, I need to make sure I am going out socially just as much as I normally would, and eating/drinking/exercising properly regardless of present results. This year I'm applying for another year of acting school which (if I get in) will see me devote Wednesday and half of Sunday to a different craft, which will give me some more balance and hopefully keep me grinding happily for another year. More consistency - I want to keep improving the overall way I approach grinding; I'm already surfing the web less which keeps me free to make better decisions based on individual situations (villain dependent, tournament dependent), and spending less time on Skype during sessions so I'm less likely to get in some negative chat spiral swapping war stories with everyone. Move up a bit - I think variance has kind of scared me off a bit from playing at the stakes I probably should be, gunna try and rectify this a bit next year. Also just generally being less wary of guys that are supposed to be decent/giving them too much credit for being good. Play more cash - Pretty much all of my poker study time this year revolved around sixmax and it got me really keen to play more and get better. Next year I'm going to try and average 8k hands per month which I hope to achieve by taking the odd day off MTTs. It's not really a big enough sample to guarantee any income from it, but through playing and reviewing 100k hands in a year I'm definitely going to improve. gl next year everyone  |

I have a shitty DELL which I am nursing until I can afford a better one; lately when I have skype, HEM, table ninja x2 and 20 tables across UB/FTP/Stars it starts running really slowly - used to be fine. I have no idea what my specs are but are there any interim methods to improving computer speed? Was thinking maybe if I exported all of my HEM hands and ran them via an external hard drive it might help? In addition when I do get a better computer what specific aspects of it should I be looking to juice up the hardest given my aforementioned requirements? Also if I only need to buy the desktop box (ie have all the peripherals) is there any better store to go to for this kind of stuff? Walked past GeekCentral in the city on the weekend and apparently they custom build. |

Eh, second attempt at using online wallets here so forgive the noob questions. I've set up an account with Neteller. I already have funds online at all the poker sites. I'm getting the idea that at least for some of the poker sites, if I want to transfer funds from the poker site to Neteller but haven't deposited on those sites using Neteller, then I'm going to have some difficulty. Is this true (if so, for which sites), and is there any practical way around it? |

Given there are more guys grinding MTTs lately I'm thinking prop bets might get more interest for the coming year. Thought I'd open the thread and maybe if any good bets come out of it we can set separate threads up for their progress and keep everyone interested. I can't really offer much on the PLB side with my ABI (unless you play similar stakes), but I'm happy to take action from any Aussies in a Stars Yearly TLB bet (ie who has the higher score) for 2011. Would also probably look at a Yearly PLB (not sliding) for 2011 if you're a midstakes grinder or casual HSMTTer.
