i was the donk who got stacked in that hand and agree it was the correct decision by the floor.
i think most of the other people on the table would have let me off lightly but i certainly can't blame him. |

I think there's no ethical problem for the guy to shove.
I believe the following rule is relevant here: Because the amount of a wager at big-bet poker has such a wide range, a player who has taken action based on a gross misunderstanding of the amount wagered needs some protection. A "call" may be ruled not binding if it is obvious that the player grossly misunderstood the amount wagered. A bettor should not show down a hand until the amount put into the pot for a call seems reasonably correct, or it is obvious that the caller understands the amount wagered. The decision-maker is allowed considerable discretion in ruling on this type of situation. A possible rule-of-thumb is to disallow any claim of not understanding the amount wagered if the caller has put eighty percent or more of that amount into the pot. --

Its correct because the ruling was made by following the rules. If a player in limit says "bet then the opponent should now the amount, but PL/NL is different and all players no this. E.Gs Player A "4500" Player B "call" - easy right? Player A "Bet.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......................................4500" Player B "call" - still pretty simple Player A "Bet" Player B "call" - Player B is bound to honor his action of "call" regardless of the hands they hold. Player A happened to have the nuts and made the most f his opponents mistake. Like Luckyshades said, if you don't jam here with the nuts, you are costing your self money. Would you change you decision if you knew you were going to lose a big post in the next orbit?? What about if you were short and only had 5bb left after saying bet, would you still let him off the hook and bet the min? I would be interested to ask someone in the know if it would attract a penalty for nor betting the max, like when that old bird a few years ago checked a royal on the river at WSOP and received a penalty anyone? |
