C_bomb: agree that you should bet the max if you're told that it will be binding.
The reason why you can't just Say player A says bet and player B hears a bet on another table and believes the total bet to be 1500 and says call, but A hasn't announced yet. It would not be fair, to B for player A to arbitrarily determine a bet size. Also please see my earlier post, the rules allow for leeway in a case of a misunderstood bet size (I'm not sure if that was the case in this hand).

C_Bomb: it's from robert's rules of poker which is the rulebook typically used/adapted for most casinos.
My understanding is star city uses these rules (except for a few small exceptions) which is why I believe the ruling was incorrect.

This plain and simple, isnt playing poker trying to make you opponent make the biggest mistake possible? I guess this dude just made the biggest mistake you could. No hard feelings, if i made the mistake id be filthy on myself not the guy maximising his chances through MY mistake.
Sucky way to go out of a tourney though Last edited by 0h0netime; 07-12-2010 at 02:58 PM. |
