DefaultRidiculous ruling in the APPT 6max event

I played the event but it wasn't until I saw the write up that I heard about the following:

Kamutzki too strong in 6-max - Big Game Poker

“Everything ran smoothly for me from the start,” he said.
“There was a crazy hand in the first few levels where I announced ‘bet’ on the river and the other guy said ‘call’.
“I didn’t even announce a bet size and the floor decided he had to call whatever amount I said – and I had the nuts!
“So I shoved for something like 14 times the pot and he had to call so that was a big present.

Does anybody know the circumstances surrounding this? It sounds like an incorrect ruling, especially given that Star City uses a modified version of RR...

Do all of you guys just jam here? I am not really one to get up on the ethics soapbox, but I can't see myself betting more than full pot (I know that amount is somewhat arbitrary but w/e). I mean I guess that's easy to say when it's the early stages of a relatively small live event, and if I was on the FT bubble of the WSOP ME my response might be different.

There is a good chance I am just completely retarded, and I'm not saying that what the guy did was 'wrong'. Interested to hear whether anyone else would consider not jamming.

Call it collusion but I'd just bet what I was going to bet vs friends, maybe a bit bigger vs randos, and shove vs Martin Comer/Hachems/Toothpick Tony/Benton.

If you don't jam there you are an idiot.

The guy did absolutely nothing at all wrong, and shouldn't be penalised for playing his hand perfectly.

It's a great ruling, and more importantly it is the absolutely correct ruling 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

luckyshades: Don't understand how it can be seen to be a fair/correct ruling. The correct ruling should be to ask the caller how much he thought he was calling and then ask the bettor how much he intended to bet.

If they're in the same ballpark, then no problem. If they're vastly different, then it comes under the gross misunderstanding of the betsize rule.

It also partly comes down to the caller not waiting for the bettor to say the amount.

I've seen this happen quite often but not when a player has the nuts. Usually medium strength or bluff and he basically just min bets and i agree with this.

Not sure what my viewpoint here is.... it should be the same as the above example but just seems a bit harsh that ur WHOLE tourney life could be jeopardised by a petty mistake.

I'm pushing it all in the middle.

Just like if I said Bet and the guy instantly says all in. even if I have a good hand, I'm only putting in 1bb as thats all I have to do, then decide if he has it and call or fold.

I think that the "ethics" of it is you have only said bet. You are yet to announce how much, but your opponent has decided to call without all of the info. Make them pay for the mistakes they make.
