Is this an official rule? Would be interested to hear if it's left up to the TD's descretion or is dealt with specifically in a rule book.
One thing that irks me about rules left upto TD's descretion is that a certain casino in this country treats it's regs who play in large tournament series completely different to how it treats the rest of it's 'unknown' player base... I Am def not referring to starcity by the way. |

this is definitely one of those 'spirit of the game' things... and unfortunately, the spirit of poker is exploitation, so you can't really bemoan a guy for shoving here. i definitely base whether or not i shove on how much i like the person, and how much i would like them to continue playing poker.
so i would 80% pot my friends, and anyone who is likeable and really bad at poker. but anyone competent that i'm neutral towards personally where there is no chance it is going to put them off playing poker, i would shove.

You call for a reason when you dont have the nuts
and that reason is usually " I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU AND WHAT I DO BELIEVE IS THAT I HAVE A HAND STRONG ENOUGH TO BEAT YOU ". the size of the bet dont matter,.,.otherwise they would MILK you all tourney with 2bb or 4bb bets on the river and make you their calling station bunny. If you think you have BEST hand, the amount dont matter Of course, THIS play takes courage... and too few have this quality.
