UB Add Maria Ho to Stable of Pros

UB.com has begun the latest phase of its rebranding process by signing another female poker player to the ranks of Team UB. Maria Ho, known for her run as the last woman standing in the 2007 Main Event (38th in the Main Event) and for her appearance with fellow UB Pro Tiffany Michelle on The Amazing Race, has finally been able to cement a full time deal from her Main Event run. Ho joins arguably the biggest name female player in the game, Annie Duke, in wearing the black and gold of UB.

UB has been working hard to change its image in the light of the super-user scandal that almost brought about the demise of both Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker who have banded together to form the Cereus Network. While the site is still not highly regarded among a large section of the poker community they are working hard to rebuild lost trust among consumers. Ho, like both Tiffany Michelle and Annie Duke, is an attractive and marketable female that will boost the company’s marketing attempts to the recreational and new player market.

Originally born in Taiwan and established as a Limit Cash Game player before breaking through in No Limit Tournaments, it is also expected that Ho will have an impact on marketing opportunities for UB in the expanding poker market in Asia. This was not lost on the 27-year old who said, “I believe that I can bring a fresh and unique dynamic to the team by reaching out to an untapped demographic by writing strategy articles and posting videos in both English and my native language of Mandarin Chinese. I also feel as though my experiences primarily as a live high-stakes cash game player will bring a different perspective to a lesser known part of the poker world that interests people.”

With other additions to the stable including Eric Baldwin and Adam Levy, as well as Joe Sebok’s signing some time ago, UB is really moving aggressively on expanding their stable of pros while other sites look to downsize their commitments to the live poker circuit. Ho has already played her first tournament as a member of Team UB failing to qualify out of day one at the NAPT Los Angeles tournament.

Right now players who sign up to UB Poker through PokerNetwork can get themselves a massive 150% up to $1,600 bonus, as well as availabling themselves to regular freerolls tournaments where they can pick up cash and tickets to various major live poker tournaments.
