If you want him all in then go all in, dont ask for a rough count and then bet that rough amount and consider it to be correct. This is as bad as "I put you all in".

50k was the bet and it was raised, the player exposed their hand with action pending and deserved to be penalised after the hand (as I'm sure most people would agree with, as it is in the rules and people really do need to learn the hard way with this), however mucking the hand was a terrible ruling

The point I'm trying to make is, as a player, dont expose yourself to these types of situations and they wont arrise. If you want somebody all in, get an exact count. If its HU, just go allin yourself and remove any doubt

As poker players you all should know that a 1% chance of a monumental fuck up is eventually going to happen so remove the chances of it

I think the point of the thread is the horrific ruling by the floor. Yes the dude made a small mistake (which I am sure he will never make again), but the floor made a huge one.

I would be definitely be seeking compensation for this - surely some estimate of the value of what his chipstack would have been after the hand can be made?

Forgive me for my ignorance but if the Opponent pushes his chip stack in and Says Call, why would this not be a Call of Jacky's bet?

If that is the case then there should be no issue with Jacky showing his hand and be awarded the pot. When the bet is counted out if there are any chips remaining for the loser after the call he continues with his crippled Stack.

Finally, I find it a little grubby that someone who is asked how many chips they have would reply with a answer they knew was incorrect then try to use it to gain an advantage when realizing your beat.

This whole issue started by not getting/giving an accurate chip count. Isnt the dealer required to count out the stack when Jacky asked how much he has left?

FWIW I agree with Monkey, get an accurate count and move yourself all in.

I've reported this to the Dali Lama bishop....he said he would tell Star City and the Pope said he will pray for all the hard done by TD's out there who have lost sooooo much sleep over this conspiracy. Its simply unaustralian for someone to make a mistake like this & he is defienetly going to rot in hell.

Do you have any idea who FIDPA is? As I said, it is doubtful that anything will come of it or even any sanctions arising.

My organisation is not even endorsed by FIDPA. I am simply passing on news.

And you can ask anyone here; I don't use this forum as a tool to grow my business or damage others, I'm here because I enjoy poker and reading this forum.

I do think that steps should be taken to ensure this type of scenario never occurs again.

Agreed, we should gouge out his eyes & chop of his hands .... that way he can never make a mistake again.

Simply passed on the news to an American organisiation that no pub poker player has ever heard of ..... that sounds like someone who just enjoys reading this forum!!!

A mistake? That's what you classify this as?

So I take it you work for NPL then or are affiliated in some way?

You seem to take issue with my disgust with this ruling and noone elses.
Let me make this very clear; in a tournament, especially one with this prizepool on offer, to make basic mistakes as a TD should not be tolerated, especially one as blatantly wrong and unfair as this one.

Secondly, I heard this story first hand from Jonno whilst I was playing in a tournament. He heard the news before I did, so it obviously circulated quickly enough after it occurred.

Finally, I am fully aware that this is issue has been raised with FIDPA. And even if you don't believe me, you only need to read On The Mac's comment above.
