It’s been a huge week in poker, with an epic World Series of Poker Main Event final table drawing to an end on Monday night, and now the announcement of the signing of the biggest online poker name in the game as Full Tilt Poker has added another pro to Team Full Tilt. A young online player who strikes fear into the hearts of all he plays. Tom "durrrr" Dwan, who is unquestionably one of the great high stakes online poker players in the world today can now add a new jersey to his collection - the one he gets from Full Tilt as being recognised as one of poker's elite.
Durrrr makes headline worldwide with his reputation of not being afraid to risk millions at a time by playing the biggest online cash games on Full Tilt against the likes of Team Full Tilt members Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey. His addition to Team Full Tilt makes perfect sense. Dwan has spent the vast majority of his poker playing life on Full Tilt Poker and has even had his own table there for the "Durrrr Challenge" since the matches were announced to the public earlier this year. Not only is the addition logical but it is an absolute match made in heaven, as one of the game’s biggest names teams up with one of the game’s biggest poker sites.
"Team Full Tilt doesn't take adding a team member lightly," said Team Full Tilt member, Howard Lederer. "But, Tom Dwan has proven, through skill and dynamic play, that he will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. We are proud to count Tom as one of our own."
Whilst many people think the inclusion of Dwan has been a long time coming, Full Tilt doesn’t take its adding of pro players as a light task. It has been over a year since the last addition of a Team Full Tilt player with poker super idol Patrik Antonius joining the squad in June of 2008. The last player to be added before that historic occasion was “The Great Dane” Gus Hansen who was added to the team which consists of Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, John Juanda, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow and Allen Cunningham.
The great news for all of us is that in addition to playing on the Full Tilt tables, Dwan in his capacity as a pro will also be sharing his wisdom with the Full Tilt Poker Academy, where players can learn from some of the world's best pros for free. He'll be sharing his experiences as a Full Tilt Team member on an exclusive blog on FullTiltPoker.com as well. This can only mean great things for poker players the whole world over!
At the conclusion of the WSOP Main Event on Monday night, Full Tilt Poker held a press conference to make the announcement with PokerNews' own Gloria Balding on hand to bring it to us:
