Brendon “Brendooor” Rubie has it all going right now. He is living in a penthouse in Wollongong and has broken through for his first major live poker circuit success, taking down the PokerNetwork Young Gun of the Month Award in the process. He could hardly be blamed if he wanted to let his online game go a little while chasing a bit of live circuit recognition. Not Rubie though, he would rather add another $102,185 to his bankroll online, while everyone else is busy burning their rolls at the World Series.
It was looking set to be a reasonably standard month for Brendooor who had banked around $20,000 before he summoned a bit of run good to end the month and banked a lazy $80,250 for a second place finish in the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guaranteed. It was a nice score that could have been bigger except for the fact that a lot of the guaranteed tournament fields failed to meet their usual guaranteed amounts (creating great overlay value in the process!) given the high number of online players over in Las Vegas at the moment. Whatever the case Rubie will take the cash and the high score for the month by an Australian as he continues to carve out an impressive 2010. (You can listen to an interview with Rubie on the June 10 edition of The PokerNetwork Show)
Also taking down a big score was Junny “Orororo” So who fuelled his $79,677 month with a $47,992 runner up finish in the PokerStars $109 rebuy. Orororo also went to the cusp of five figures a couple of times on Full Tilt Poker during the month to put him on the map in June.
Sal “Ugr Italy” Fazzino may not have planned on a trip to the World Series this year due to other commitments, but he may be reconsidering with another sensational month of online play under his belt. With some consistent results Ugr Italy grinded his way to $88,667 in earnings during June. His headline results were a second place finish in the PokerStars $40,000 Guaranteed Six Max, and a third place finish in the Full Tilt Poker $75,000 Guaranteed. He also made another 14 final tables during the month, adding another 14 scores over the four figure mark to his tally. Ugr Italy now moves up to a career best rank of 395th in the World.
Tom “tollgate” Grigg charged the fish daily as he racked up some big volume. The biggest of his 110 cashes in June was $9,675 for a win in the PokerStars $40,000 Guaranteed single rebuy and add on. It was a busy month for Tollgate who seemingly played everything between $2 rebuys and the Sunday majors. His hard work paid off to the tune of $78,888 before clocked for the month.
David “dasve798111” Allan did nothing to tarnish his reputation as one of the rising stars on the Australian online scene with another significant month of results. A pair of $7,000 runner up finishes on PokerStars in the $40,000 Guaranteed Six Max and the $30,000 Guaranteed Turbo, helped catapult him to $77,061 in earnings.
Jarod “shawry5” Shawcross became the latest Aussie to win a Triple Crown in a manic week that saw victories in the Full Tilt Poker $10,000 Guaranteed, the Bodog $10,000 Guaranteed Double Shootout, and the PokerStars $10,000 Guaranteed Six Max.
Also among the June honourable mentions were aces_up4108, Stewart “juzlearnin” Scott, and Andrew “Higher Wattage” Watson who cashed for circa $50,000 each during the month.
Jonathan “xMONSTERxDONGx” Karamalikis remains the only Aussie entrenched in the World Top 100. He is ranked as the 53rd best player online, and the best Australian, while James “Andy_McLEOD” Obst is second, and Brendon Rubie is in third.
